Wonder what other dirt the IMF has, will "leak" next?
Turkey Minister Attempts Suicide

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Turkey's economy minister attempted suicide today, apparently upset over a scandal surrounding a leaked document that led to alleged insider trading.
Hikmet Ulugbay, 60, shot himself after listening to the late news, NTV television quoted his wife, Nedret, as saying. His family rushed to the private study after hearing the first shot and prevented him from firing a second shot.
After three hours of surgery, he was not in a life-threatening condition, said Dr. Mehmet Haberal of Ankara's Baskent hospital. The bullet injured his chin, mouth and tongue, but caused no damage to the brain, Haberal said.
The prime minister, visibly upset and his voice breaking, later spoke in parliament to offer an explanation for the suicide attempt.
''Mr Ulugbay is a person with an extraordinary sense of responsibility and is extraordinarily sensitive,'' Bulent Ecevit said. ''He may have been upset more than anyone else by the unfair allegations directed at his colleagues at the Treasury.''
The allegations stem from a secret International Monetary Fund document that was reportedly leaked from Ulugbay's ministry to a brokerage firm owned by a cousin of former prime minister Mesut Yilmaz. The firm allegedly used the information to manipulate stock.
The government denied insider trading allegations, but Treasury Undersecretary Cuneyt Sel resigned from his post last week after reports that he leaked the document to former economy minister Gunes Taner, who reportedly passed it on to Yilmaz.(cont)
