SCUMbria - Re: "In spite of the clock speed advantage, it doesn't seem fair for Athlon to compete against the weaker PIII on a clock for clock basis. "

You are a one-man marathon in pumping up the LaughALON .

Unfortunatley, you are whistling in the wind.

Whatever its merits, the Word Is Out - LaughALON is in trouble and AMD won't be reaping any profits any time soon.

Look down below at the stock price - your latest purchase is under water.

There is evidence on Price Watch (admittedly premature) that this is not going to happen. The likelihood is that the Athlons will be priced dollar for dollar against similarly clocked pIIIs. Allowing for AMD's policy of 25% discounts pricing parity clock for clock can be seen as a de facto adjustment upwards.

Also, did anyone see the interview of an analyst name Niles on Digital Jam yesterday? He said that iNTC's poor price action (up 3/8) on a day of several upgrades to "strong buy" by such major firms as ML signals to him that the issue should be sold in the near term. He cited AMD's impending introduction of the Athlon as another reason to sell iNTC without commenting on AMD. (Gooooolly, I wonder what he is telling his clients about AMD.)
