Nemer, IB operates in two different ways: retail and institutional. All clients which come in as referrals from other brokers are considered institutional. Correct, they do cancel all your open orders if you lose a connection, for institutional clients only! I was an institutional client and in the process of switching to retail. The maint req is in the 4600 area per, i believe. the 2500 per was a benefit of the referring broker. correct, no 800 number, but with the savings in commission, one can easily add a lengthy phone call and still come out way a head. regards peter
