Good underwriters: Goldman, Wit Capital, etc. Viant (formerly Silicon Valley Internet Partners) wants to be a giant in the world of Internet consulting. Building on its expertise in business consulting, creative design, and Internet technology, Viant offers everything from intranet development to the creation of online catalog and customer service systems. Clients include firms such as Compaq, Deutsche Bank, and Polo Ralph Lauren. The company was founded in 1996 by Eric Greenberg, who later went on to found Viant rival Scient. CEO Robert Gett owns 11% of the company. A host of venture capital firms, including Kleiner Perkins (15%), Mohr, Davidow Ventures (23%), Trident Capital Management (11%), and Technology Crossover Ventures (6%), also own a stake.
