If a normal computer will be able to download music in the EPAC or other format, then upload it to a portable playback unit, isn't the Lydstrom unit essentially replacing the personal computer with a task specific computer that has a substantial storage capacity as well as a descent amplifier and speaker set. I don't believe we require MicroOS in our P.C.'s to make this work, but it's the way to go in the handheld flash memory devices we may want it to work with.

Kerry, doubt any of us can/will or care to understand wally - I think Lydstrom is interesting because they seem to have a good solution for larger home entertainment units where space/ power consumption etc. are not issues - whereas EDIG a has players that deal with small and smaller - could be Lydstrom needs EDIG's help - IMO

<Lucent, one of the world's largest R&D companies, has been working with Lydstrom, a start-up company that plans to use third party technology, to develop an alternative to Micro OS>

Wow, Kerry that is news to me. Where did you hear about that? Lucent working on an alternative to MicroOS? That is news to me.

Kerry, do you really know how long it took to develop MicroOS or are you confusing the time-to-develop with the time-to-market?:-)
