You didn't need to go through all that patzer irrationalization to demonstrate what just about everyone knows. ABX is the world's premier gold company and has a forward expectation on recoverable gold lower than NEM's at this time. That may not last, but it is the evaluation case now.

If gold rises, would you rather be in ABX with all of its hedges? NEM will outperform on a percentage basis especially on a trading basis. That is, if you want to trade, NEM is the better vehicle. If you want portfolio insurance, ABX is better. So you have to wait and board quickly NEM in contrast to holding ABX somewhat indifferently. If a move aborts or fails to advance, you have to make a decision to sell with NEM. That isn't the case with ABX if only because they have a dividend.
