Motorola is continuing to invest in its vision of a wireless Internet, according to a story today by Dow Jones.

"Motorola Unit to Add 1,400 Positions

"Motorola Inc.'s Network Solutions Sector unit said Tuesday that it planned to create 1,400 new positions in engineering and in research and development.

"Network Solutions makes and sells Motorola's cellular infrastructure and wireless communications systems. . . .

"The company said the expansion was related to its plan for an all Internet protocol-based platform for wireless systems [and] it had been working on the Internet protocol-based architecture for more than a year."
