tad, welcome to bubble journalism ;-) you listed two fables as espoused by mu. do you not remember when they said they believed korea was almost out of inventory just before pricing was sliced in half? dec/jan 98 was that time frame. they also had some faux paus w/ mis-stating semi revs - to the high side, of course ;-) that was about six months ago. there was a ny times article on that one.

then there was the time mu management said they wouldn't sell dram for under $8. 16 mb dram. ahhhh, memories! ;-)

i can't fault kip for saying that "demand continues to remain strong" right after 16 mb dram peaked and was headed for an 80% haircut. technically, 80% growth is strong. not relative to 125% growth in supply, but he didn't mention supply. the suckers who ran this bow wow up 20% in two following that jibberish are to blame for being so dumb as not to put two and two together.

i'm w/ you on this issue. i assume there are no problems. however, if there are... 1. it wouldn't surprise me, 2. couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of marketers (they don't have "management" they just have two sets of "marketing") and 3. :-)

I sent a polite inquiry to Dell about the rumored 64MB problems. No reply as of yet.

Tad, Perhaps these rumors have a module assembler screw up as their
basis. A bad board layout, incorrect serial id prom, or even
counterfeit or remarked dram chips.

tadster, i'd like to see an analysis of how long mu can continue at these business levels before running out of cash. i'm not talking cash flow. i'm talking physical cash. their reserves dropped $200 million last q with a dime loss. how many similar qs can we see before mu has to start auctioning off its assets? then, how long can they survive with all their assets hawked.

i'd like this to be public info, too.
