If Maytag washing machines tore up clothes as often as the MSFT OS crashes, destroys files and wastes our precious time, Congress would call hearings and demand that Maytag executives tell us what is wrong.

MSFT, on the other hand, continually exploits the public. Every time you open a new application, you will find a variety of bugs. The public does not complain. So, MSFT and the company's shareholders get rich at the public's expense.

I don't understand why. Look at the trouble Coca-Cola got into when people got sick. Why is MSFT exempt from public scrutiny?

Where is Ralph Nader?. We need him or someone like him to protect us from the buggy and imperfect products that MSFT releases to the naïve public.

As always, Just My Own Opinion

She's uses AOL. Once AOL is ported, then Linux (or Solaris) gets installed (once). She won't know the difference, except for the fact that her PC finally works properly.

I really pitty anyone who finds it difficult to use win98/NT. There is no easier desktop paradigm for a non-techie. I'll assume it's because she is not familiar with computers because of her age ... but what's your excuse ?
