Thanks Jubimer,
There was something else not quite right about the information, he was promoting selling, "now that it's all over...".

Curiouswalker's subsequent post seemed to set the picture right.

The question remains, do the funds get an early look, and if so, by how much?

This is the suspect post:

The additions and deletions to the Russell 2000 index have now been finalized, as of July 1. But only
subscribers to the Russell 2000 index calculations have received the results. For the rest of the investing
public, the final list will not be made public until July 8. However, for the purposes of playing the Russell
2000 addition, the play is now over. If you picked any of the nine funds on our list for this play, sell them
to the index funds. After all, you've had a nice return of over 20% in just three weeks, compared to the
Russell 2000's 5.3% return.

Jubimer, I have no reason to doubt your scenario .....but if you know it others must also.......... If there are ten million [or so ] shares to be bought wouldn't it follow that there would be much buying in advance of this? If you were to throw out some of the big volume days when the stock jumped sharply the average volume would be in the two hundred thousand range......... Ten million shares bought out of even this large a float would .....
