Oh, colors are never simple. Did you explore that Munsell link I gave you? That's just the tip of a very large iceberg. There are rules about how to look at colors, what shade of light, what strength of light, what to use as a background. And then there are idiosyncrasies of perception.

Chris and I argued for quite a while whether the warm color on his calculator keys was orange or pink. I said pink, he said orange, the kids said pink. So we got out a color chart, and matched the color on the color chart to the color on the calculator keys, and he had to admit that it was pink. Kind of an orange, apricot pink, but not what you'd call orange if you saw it on a color chart.
