Now, I hope new blood can get the ball rolling again over there, last
qtrs. European sales could definitely use improvement.

Dell says Europe chief to resign

FRANKFURT, July 7 (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp (Nasdaq:DELL - news) said on Wednesday that the head of its European
operations, Jan Gesmar-Larsen, would step down in the next few months.

He will be replaced by John J. Legere, president of Dell's Asia-Pacific region.

Gesmar-Larsen, who joined Dell as head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa in May 1997, has decided to take ''extended family
leave'' after 20 years in the computer industry, Dell said in a statement. He plans to stay on to assist with the management transition.

Legere, who joined Dell in 1998, will continue to manage the Asia-Pacific region until a successor is named there.

Dell's European sales growth slowed to 29 percent in its fiscal first quarter, down from a rate of 40 percent in the year-ago period. The company has struggled to build
momentum in Germany.

It recently rolled out ''free'' Internet access services in Britain and Germany.

Don't be surprised if one day before Dell announces its earnings, Compaq makes up some stunning announcement to put Dell in an unfavorable light and Compaq looking like the real turn around is about to explode. We seen this bullsh** before and it worked so they may try it again.
