tonight on cnn moneyline, Martin Feldman , the tobacco analyst at Salomon Smith Barney made several positive comments on MO.

He thinks that the stock will be at $60 within a year despite this verdict.

In Phase 2 of the trial ,the damages will be more difficult to assess.

He feels that the plaintiffs will have a very tough case. 5 of the 9 plaintiffs have had their case statute barred already.

In the past , MO has fallen for a few days after a negative verdict in tobacco legislation, only to recover within a few months.

I suspect that the same will happen here.

I think that last year's settlement with the states, ensures the long term survival of the industry.

The states are very dependant on the money from the settlement. I don't think they would let the companies go bankrupt.

If the stock fell below $35, I would be a buyer.
