A spot deferred contract is a forward sale contract that has only the price of gold locked. It is flexible in the delivery of the gold which can be indefinitely deferred. In other words, if the producer can get a better price by selling his gold on the market rather than delivering it back to the dealers with whom he signed the contract, he can do so.
