Jd,

That would come under the heading of "a bad thing" <G>.

The link you had was to the processor roadmap. I didn't see any chipsets included for any platforms. Since many of their chipsets are a "given" (only the high-end products should be RDRAM-enabled), it seems to me that they just left them all off. It could be that they're still wrestling with which to do, but why not just leave them off of the ones in question? Or maybe, as you posit, they're confused.

Also, the IDF sessions (didn't you post the original notice about them?) that covered RDRAM are still there in the tracks on Designing the Next-Generation Performance Desktop Systems and Engineering High-Performance Workstations Using Intel® Architecture. No other memory technology is mentioned. HP is even bringing in some kind of test equipment for the Designing the Next-Generation Performance Desktop Systems Laboratory.

The tension is so palpable you could cut it with a chainsaw <G>.

Dave

Jd,

And Dual-channel Rambus is still listed under the IDF Spotlight scrolling display (actually, I saw it listed at least twice in the display under two different banners).
