"May I hear your opinion regarding "open access", guts feeling please."

Yihsuen- Some time ago, I asked myself to step out of my @Home shareholder's shoes and really ponder "open access." I said, "Wilson, forget that you are a greedy @Home investor. What do you really think would be best for the consumer?" My answer was open access. Not a free ISP ride...but at a price that would benefit all parties concerned. And only if it is technically feasible. @Home seems to be having enough problems now without trying to solve a multiple ISP piggy back problem. The slowdown in rolling out broadband should be kept at a minimum.

This may be a horrible analogy, but oh well. When I built my limestone wall last summer, the most important part of the project was the "first coarse" or base. The ground needed to be well-packed and level. Once that difficult step was achieved, the rest simply fell into place. That is how I feel about broadband roll-out. Let's do first things first. Allow the roll-out. Once initial bottleneck problems are solved, then let's address open access.

My heart says "open access" and my pocketbook says "monopoly."
