Lucent Technologies Partners With New England Voice & Data To Expand Network July 8, 1999 11:00 AM MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 1999-- --Advanced Switching and Data Technology Provide Northeast CLEC Users with Array of Enhanced Services-- New England Voice & Data, a switched-based competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), has awarded Lucent Technologies LU a $30 million, three-year contract to provide all the infrastructure for a state-of-the-art voice and data network build-out expansion. New England Voice & Data's expanded network will provide its customers with a single, reliable source of local and long distance phone service, as well as a full array of high speed data, Internet and information services. The expanded network architecture is based on Lucent Technologies' 5ESS(R) switching platform and is supported by a full complement of Lucent data networking products, allowing New England Voice and Data to offer new and flexible solutions to the fast growing data and Internet market. With switching facilities successfully deployed in Worcester, Massachusetts, and Providence Rhode Island, New England Voice and Data will continue its aggressive expansion, entering five additional markets through the rest of 1999. DSL services will be included in New England Voice & Data high-speed data offerings, marketed to small- and medium-sized businesses.
