Demand Video is currently focused on the overbuilder market. Currently they are working with new cable cos financed by Power companies (Seren) and with municipally operated cablecos (Walnut Creek Ca).

The key people at Demand Video, including Bruce Campbell have prior involvement with DIVA. Campbell in particular was involved with several of DIVA founder Paul Cook's previous ventures (RayNet, Cellnet). Bruce also consulted for Cook on the formation of DIVA - he was in effect Cooks "kept engineer" - advising him on key technical issues. The other folks in Demand Video were part of a WEB company that DIVA purchased. When DIVA did not move forward aggresively with a WEB strategy they looked for new opportunities...

The choice of the overbuilder market is an interesting one because this would appear to represent a sizable new and unaccounted for source for future VOD revenue. In a totally deregulated future we can look forward to having 2-3 choices for digital content delivered via either a cable cos or a telco. There will be few exclusive franchises for VOD. In the end - with potentially millions of hours of content archived on servers there will be hugh market opportunities for server equipment providers such as CCUR.
