AT&T Digital One Rate Plan Has Problems, WSJ's Mossberg Says

New York, July 8 (Bloomberg) -- AT&T Corp.'s new Digital One Rate cellular-phone service, which promises that cell phones will be as simple and
affordable as their land-line counterparts, has service problems in many U.S. cities, Walter Mossberg said in his Wall Street Journal column. The
service's popularity has overloaded its circuits, making it hard to place or receive calls, and there are some so-called dead spots where service isn't
available. Cities with problems include Washington, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston and Los Angeles, and AT&T Wireless Services Chief Executive
Dan Hesse told Mossberg that there are ''certain markets and locales where we have had capacity problems,'' though he said the service is delivering
what it promised.

AT&T, the No. 1 U.S. long-distance phone company, also offers a One Rate plan for land-line customers, offering calls 24 hours a day for 15 cents a
minute.
