Nexland Announces Interoperability of the ISB2LAN Internet Sharing Box With Copper Mountain Network's Customer Premise Equipment
"Plug and Play" Box Provides DSL Subs Firewall Security & Internet Access for the Entire Lan
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 1999-- Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMTN - news), a manufacturer of high performance Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) networking systems has verified the interoperability of Nexland's ISB2LAN Internet Sharing Box, it was announced today by Greg Levine, Nexland's President. Nexland's ISB2LAN Internet Sharing Box is a new, easy to install network adapter that allows multiple users to simultaneously share a single DSL Modem (or Cable Modem) connection, one IP address, and a single Internet access account over an Ethernet LAN. The box, which carries a suggested end-user price of $349, also acts as a natural firewall, providing complete network security. The Nexland ISB2LAN has passed interoperability tests with Copper Mountain's CopperRocket Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).

According to Levine, ''We are very pleased to interoperate with Copper Mountain Networks, the emerging de facto standard for Symmetric DSL solutions. As more and more high-speed service providers sign on to use our ISB2LAN as a cost-effective, easy-to-install sharing solution for their customers, it is important that we have the support of industry leaders such as Copper Mountain.'' Copper Mountain's John Reister added, ''As a rapidly growing number of DSL sites are deployed, customers are increasingly in need of an efficient means of connecting all the PC's on their Ethernet network to the Internet. Nexland's ISB2LAN provides a reliable, cost-effective solution, and we are pleased to confirm its interoperability with our CopperRocket CPE.''

Using NAT (Network Address Translation) technology, the ISB2LAN Internet Sharing Box instantly enhances the Internet capabilities of an Ethernet network by connecting all of the PC, Mac or Unix computers to a single xDSL ISP account with simultaneous access and improved performance. The ISB2LAN features simple ''plug and play'' installation, acting as an optional DHCP client to a DSL Modem, Cable Modem or other DHCP device. The ISB2LAN also has its own internal DHCP server to serve the LAN (optionally) for up to 254 users. The ISB2LAN adapter supports the complete range of possible Internet protocols and functions including FTP, email, chat, and more.
