QNTM's Atlas 10K is faster, quieter, and cooler than Seagate's Cheetah, according to StorageReview.com. And the Atlas IV and the Fireball drives were no slouches either:

Quantum's Hard Disk Drives Hailed as Performance Champions; Quantum's Atlas 10K Wins Title of 'World's Fastest Drive'

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999--Quantum's
high-end Atlas(TM) 10K drive is "the fastest drive in the world,"
according to a recent review conducted by StorageReview.com
(www.storagereview.com, review dated June 3).

Testing with Ziff Davis WinBench 99 running under Windows 95 and
Windows NT, the Atlas 10K outperformed competing high-end drives,
including all 10,000 and 12,000 rpm drives, in all performance
categories. In addition, the Atlas 10K was commended for its excellent
heat and noise levels.

"Setting new marks in all six major performance categories by
significant margins, the Quantum Atlas 10K's blazing performance
easily dethrones the Cheetah 18LP," reported StorageReview.com. "The
Quantum Atlas 10K is currently the fastest drive in the world, and the
drive you should purchase if you're a performance-oriented user."

"The Atlas 10K was designed to be the most reliable high-end
drive and the best performer," said John Joseph, Quantum's director of
program marketing for the Atlas 10K. "The report from
StorageReview.com is evidence of the outstanding capabilities of the
Atlas 10K, indicating how the Atlas 10K is an ideal disk drive for
demanding applications such as transaction processing and digital
video editing."

StorageReview.com also commented, "WinBench 99 running under
Windows 95 pegs the Atlas 11% faster than the Cheetah on the Business
Disk WinMark. In High-End WinMark tests, the Atlas keeps ahead by a 9%
margin. Results were similar in tests under Windows NT, with the
Quantum leading the Seagate by 9% in the Business WinMark and 15% in
the High-End tests. ThreadMark results concur, placing the Atlas 14%
faster than the Cheetah in Windows 95 and 18% faster under NT."

Additional Quantum Hard Drives Acclaimed

StorageReview.com also reviewed the Atlas IV, Quantum's latest
7,200 RPM Ultra 160/m SCSI drive, which utilizes the same
high-performance architecture as the Atlas 10K. "The Quantum Atlas IV
turned in the best scores to date from a 7200rpm SCSI drive," reported
StorageReview.com. "The Atlas IV combines best-of-class performance
with more than acceptable heat and noise levels to take its place as
StorageReview.com's 7200rpm SCSI recommendation."

Keeping pace with Quantum's high-end drives, Quantum's
Fireball(TM) Plus KA won Maximum PC magazine's Kick Ass award for
best-performing desktop hard disk drive in the July 1999 issue. "The
Fireball Plus KA beat every other drive in practically every
test...which explains why the Fireball was the top performer in the
real-world benchmarks," commented Maximum PC.

About the Atlas 10K

The Quantum Atlas 10K drive family delivers lightning-fast data
access and sustained data streams critical for data-intensive server,
workstation and storage subsystem applications. These applications
include online-line transaction processing (OLTP) computers,
large-scale ISP server installations, 3-D image rendering, and
broadcast video systems. The Atlas 10K meets these high-performance
requirements through its 10,000 RPM rotation, 5 ms average seek time,
and 26 MB/sec maximum sustained transfer rate. The Quantum Atlas 10K
drives are available at a 36GB capacity in a half-height, 3-1/2-inch
form factor, and 18GB and 9GB capacities in low-profile, 1-inch-high
footprints.
