I suppose it depends on what you mean by Red Herring. My point is (and I do have one) that taken out of the context of the rest of the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments are a long way from being complete moral guide, imo. To illustrate that point I mentioned a few crimes that, as far as I can see, aren't covered. Others did come up with interpretations of various commandments to make them relevant. This raises another question, however, if we are discussing this in the context of posting the commandments in schools. If the Ten Commandments need explanation and interpretation to cover the moral landscape, is it enough to post the commandments in schools, or do we need bible classes as well to explain them?
