This should be fun. Is the question concerning signal transmission over powerlines or the more abstract notion of photonics vs electronics. I will check back later.

CopperCom? It was only a couple of months ago that we discussed service partitioning along the layers of the OSI model. Here's a another sample of same. The telco will need not to be your local ILEC in the future. Disclaimer: I have no foundation to comment one way or the other on the results that are declared in the following. But it's interesting, nonetheless.
