Jim: great post.

Also, why is it so hard for people to understand that Intel is a company with a real, honest to gosh corporate STRATEGY. Whether you or I agree or disagree with it, they have a plan for the next five and ten years. I wish more companies did. They will not sacrifice their future for a few months of minor profit enhancement by straddling the question of the future of memory. Their complete support of Rambus is one reason why I believe in Intel....I don't know if Rambus is the best thing since sliced bread, but I do know Intel would not support it if it did not make long term sense. (another way to present Dave's very persuasive argument.)

When the dust settles in a year or so, all this ranting by the bears will look humerous in hindsight.

I agree. One can't imagine a circumstance were by Intel & Rambus spend 10 years, huge sums of money, millions of man hours & come up with a dud. Anyone who thinks that, please please please short the hell out of this stock.

Jim,

Re: They have concluded that Rambus will give them the SCALEABLE memory design
that will provide them with the headroom they need for years to come.

How is it scalable (assume you mean in speed), by way of faster data I/O down the road, more data I/O signals, other?

Tony

Jim,

Great summary!

Still no word from Kash (as the current bear representative).

Fantastic post, Jim.

I think that we will have a long wait in getting an answer to the most fundamental question as to why Intel gave RMBS the green light in the first place.

I fail to see any advantage INTC would have seen, especially in light of the licensing and royalty payments for RMBS, UNLESS they felt that RMBS provided the optimum long range bandwidth solution.

Fortunately for Intel, they are in a position of strength that gives them the "luxury" of looking beyond the next quarter.
