Ten <Traffic is bursty... Once the buffers are full, the SCSI controller dumps ...bursting at scattered moments... many bandwidth-hungry devices...bus contention becomes a serious bottleneck. That's not something I would want in a server that costs $10,000 > FYI, just six good SCSI server-grade drives would eat all this budget alone. Judging from your description of the "problem" you are not even near to be qualified to discuss the matter. Those systems engineering professionals at Compaq are doing the job that is three heads above your comprehension of the subject. I would strongly recommend you to drop the topic.
