I understand and agree with the seriousness of the issue. And yes it is a very complex issue with lots of subtext. That is what makes it so enthralling. And yes SI, and other such communities, are microcosms of society as a whole. Given the nature of the medium and the permanence of our words it is perhaps a slightly intensified environment. That could contribute to the emotional peaks.

I understand you are not in a joking mood on the topic. I respect that. It is an important topic and I will respect the seriousness of it with you. But SI is also an environment of interweaving threads. One of my threads is an old and entertaining thread with Joe. It is almost entirely about off beat humour. This is very important to me and I take this humour seriously <g>.

I very much enjoy the conversation and exchange of ideas and look forward to continuing it. In various incarnations.
