U.S. semiconductor companies like Micron Technology Inc. (MU) rose as computer-chip prices rebounded. Prices for memory chips used in personal computers rose overnight on the spot market in Taiwan, pointing to strong demand for PCs and thus rising profits for computer companies. In Taiwan, prices for 64- megabyte dynamic random access memory chips are now above $4.50, up from $3.60 last week, according to analyst Boris Peterik at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp.
