Why squirm? At a close of 40 or better you have achieved your maximum profit objective with a CC strategy -- be happy.

Your best strategy will be to either let the shares be assigned (per Geoff Nunn) and then immediately repurchase them, or wait until July 16 to roll up. The reason for waiting is that on July 16 there will be no time value left in the calls, and so the calls can be repurchased for the intrinsic value plus the MM spread (around 1/4 point). Remember, the time value erodes most rapidly in the last few days of the option. I too sold July 40s (for 1 1/2), and I am happy that Dell is on its way up.
