I would say, and vice versa, but I've never actually known of the reverse situation in real
life.

I have. In fact, I represented a house husband about five years ago, got him primary custody of the kids, child support, and spousal maintenance until the kids were in school and he could work without leaving them in day care. (Their deal was that he would stay at home until then, while she pursued her high powered career.) But that was an anomoly, and the only such case I have run across.

<<If one of those husbands decided to leave the wife, not for good cause, definitely the wife should get alimony.

I went on a fishing trip where one of the guys was a state drone pulling down about 30k a year. His wife was a well to do attorney and sued him for a divorce on irreconsilable differences. She got the house, alimony and child support, he got the kids and his car. Two weeks later she married the judge.

I agree with you 110%! Exactly, fair is fair, and what you stated I believe to be most truly needed,
Re: last sentence of 1st paragraph
In many states the marriage has to have been a number of years.
There is an attorney on this thread, I'm new and not sure,
maybe he would know about this.

Yes on the vice versa, many men now choose to stay home with the children; they should get alimony in those circumstances.

Yes, illness also should warrant alimony. Yes,
also "rehabilitative alimony" for men or women is needed.

Alimony should not be discounted, for in various situations alimony is much needed.

Thank you for your opinion,
