Kash,

One big application for multiple DRAM ports is going to be high end graphics cards. Graphics hardware use several distinct high bandwidth memory buffers. These include color buffers, depth buffers, and texture memory/caches. Multiple DRDRAM ports provide a uniquely simple and effective solution to this problem.

Another big application will be network packet processors. Intel just bought into this business yesterday, and it will soon be a very high volume market.

I don't have much insight into multi-channel DRDRAM on motherboards, but it does seem clear that Camino/DRDRAM running most apps will produce zero performance benefit.
