the next explosive growth will happen when PalmComputing system software attracts dozens of new applications from developers like Wireless Knowledge

Isn't Wireless Knowledge a joint venture of QCOM with MSFT? Formed to develop applications using Windows CE?

I can see your points concerning Q's entry into wireless data, and its position with Palm. However, I doubt it will be through Wireless knowledge.

Try this: Q believes the best vehicle for wireless data is the Palm OS. It deals directly with Palm in this area. It wanted to hedge its bet on Windows CE, but not put too much effort (or money) into it. It therefore formed a joint venture to make sure that msft had to fund much of the CE related development costs. Next will be agreement on the Psion-compatible side. So Q gains from all as the wireless market goes up.
