WSJ> uly 8, 1999 Dow Jones Newswires Qualcomm To Replace Transamerica On S&P 500 Index NEW YORK -- Standard & Poor's added Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) to its S&P 500 Index to replace Transamerica Corp. (TA). In a press release Thursday, Standard & Poor's said Aegon NV (AEG), a Dutch firm, is acquiring Transamerica, a financial services company. Compass Bancshares Inc. (CBSS) bank holding company will replace Qualcomm, which makes digital wireless communications systems and Internet products, on the S&P MidCap 400 Index.
