I'll be the first to say ATI is a great company. However, it looks like ATI maybe at top of its game. In an industry were market leaders change faster than musical chairs, I suspect at least for this cycle of musical chair leader the best of ATI has been this last 2Q and maybe be one more. According to ATI CC:

percentage OEM sales trending down in desk top market
their Asia business is flat while they said sales were booming
Europe was down(they claim summer slow down)
No .18 miro until next year
Inventory is up (they blamed the new sap sys.)

You have to ask yourself how could it get any better for ATI than they have had it for the last 3 or 4Q's??? I'm not sure it could, all this past success has driven the stock to current levels. If it can't get better than means it can only stay the same or get worse. If that happens there is alot already built into the stock, you could see some downside such as what happened to S3 in 1997/98. One good thing about S3 when your down and out there nowhere left to go but UP(could go bankrupt but not likely will assets of over 700 million)

<Ken P keeps talking about taking market share away from ATI all the time, >
Ken said that and ATI denied it today on the CC/ Somebody is wrong or lying. I don't know who, maybe S3 CC will shed some light on it.

<yet when you actually ask the box makers, you still can't find any substantial volume of Savage4s.>
Go by Circuit City or Best Buy, you almost can't find a computer without a S4

< They were even shut out of DELL for cheating in some 3D benchmark>

They have a Dell deal done and bagged, t.b.a.

<NVDA has some potential, but I'm worried about their ?M shares becoming unfrozen in july. Perhaps in August?>

According to ATI CC, NVDA, maybe in deep trouble. The only card maker left Creaf, is working on their own Creaf chip(I doubt it but that what they said).

Scared but hopeful.

Thats is exactly what can happen to a "leader" (S3) when they fall from grace. Again instead of looking in the rear view mirror we should be looking whats ahead. I think if we had a chart of ATI and S3 for 1999 & 2000 and 2001. It would look the exact same with one exception, I think S3 and ATI are once again changing places. Like they did in 1997 and 1998. Next cycle of musical chair leaders.
