Before i sort of answer, let me emphasise that i pretend to no guruness of any kind. I know one thing well - that i don't know a hell of a lot. Ok, two things - most others don't know a hell of a lot either. I'm just a small player ... told russett that by PM once and he laughed, but it's true. Most of my comments here are tongue in cheek, since i view these threads as educational entertainment, not the deadly serious tout-your-position venue that some others view them. As for trading, here are the first four SIer traders i can think of off the top of my head who make great sense to me. They apply more science than i do - exchange2000.com exchange2000.com exchange2000.com exchange2000.com .. specifically more TA science ... TLC goofs around a lot on the scam and scambuster threads but catch some of his older posts on traders' and TA threads and he'll surprise you. Trades/week - varies widely, often with weather. When it's nice out, i'm out. Not to say i don't trade - limit orders are great, you can let the market come to you ... or not, as is so often the case ... and then you often get partial fills, i've had a lot lately as i've been half-centing the bid on dmw. Anywhere from 0 to maybe 10 trades/week lately, but it'll pick up in Oct-Feb when the weather is ugly here in Lotusland. Amount/trade - i try to keep it above $3k or so, then greenslime's $29 means 1% or less ... but then partial fills blow that ... and it does vary widely. Strictly Canadian, for over two years now ... thought the Dow could never hold 6000 or wherever it was -g- Average in/out time - average not meaningful here ... i have some left of the abx i bought in the spring of '87 ... then a couple of weeks ago i had a roundtrip in rta that lasted maybe half an hour, in fact i put in a limit sell order as fast as i could type it after getting the fill on the buy. In wsp last fall the average would have been maybe three days. Roughly three out of four times i seemed to be able to sell shares and get them back cheaper. Not the case this year, i washed out even so far in '99, so i'm not trading wsp, just holding. Don't even have Stockwatch lately. Ahead on the game but not spectacularly ... underwater by two bits on k, Kinross, ... again ... from early June this time ... caught gle, tvl, and arp well, but then a bunch of penny dreadful losses cut the gains on those ... sitting on good ones now, though! -g- ... wsp, jdx, bit, dmw, suf, aah ... and a bunch of boring blue chits that nobody wants to talk about .. even k will bounce eventually ... to answer the question - yes, ahead, but not by a great deal, and not from trading either ... more like position trades, medium term. Just can't stay interested in trading in weather like here today ... and i don't feel at all capable of teaching anything, except maybe the value of listening to those who are capable ... i sure don't ever want the responsibility for somebody else's decision. Now would you like to answer those questions for yourself -g- .... cheers [edit] - ok you did - #reply-10433590 ... sort of -g-
