JLA,

"Clinton was impeached." You're 100% accurate.

"Only the basest form of partisan politics allowed him to remain in office."
I would certainly agree that the proceedings were highly partisan and that is truly unfortunate. There were also a large number of Constitutional scholars (liberal and conservative) that asserted that the charges did not rise to Constitutionally impeachable offenses. I have doubt that you did any research, at all, on the intent of the framers with regard to what was to be considered an impeachable offense. Single case in point...Hamilton committed a felony when he bribed a couple to keep secret illicit affair. The Congress at the time decided to keep the violation to themselves, Hamilton was never prosecuted and the same Congress subsequently approved his appointment to a cabinet position.

"The Congress is even now investigating the misuse of the IRS by the Bubba maladministration relative to its political enemies. Another scandal in the making?"
I trust that we shall see. As a separate note, did you see the letter that came with Gingriches vindication of tax code violations? It pointed to the fact that the Republican Congress refused to release documents related to the investigation; some possible hint at obstruction of justice on the part of Congress? Perhaps the investigation is a let's get even for picking on our Speaker.

Speaking of the Speaker.....As a citizen, it really ticked me off when Newt Gingrich resigned, it seemed to me that the consitutents of Georgia had elected Gingrich to represent them, not to be Speaker, nor to lead the party. His resignation seemed to be thumbing his nose at those that elected him.

Best Regards,
Jim
