CRYO-CELL Launches Expansive Internet Marketing Program July 13, 1999 03:50 PM CLEARWATER, Fla., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel D. Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CRYO-CELL International, Inc. CCEL , announced today the company's Internet marketing activities are being significantly expanded in its attempt to reach millions of expectant parents. The company's goal is to heighten parent's awareness that they have an alternative to having their newborn baby's stem cell-rich umbilical cord blood thrown away at birth, as waste material. A series of Internet agreements will enable individuals having a baby to be linked to the company's Web site at www.cryo-cell.com in order to see why CRYO-CELL is America's fastest-growing, affordable private cell banking firm. According to Mr. Richard, "The company's Web site will make expectant parents aware of why many leading medical experts advocate the preservation of newborn's cord blood stem cells for the potential future benefit of the family." Thomas Deutsch, Director of Systems Development, is heading up the expansion of the company's presence on the Internet to reach more expectant parents and their physicians, midwives, nurses and childbirth educators. "Our Web site already details why CRYO-CELL can offer its U-Cord(TM) Stem Cell Preservation Program at 1/5 the $1,500 initial fees charged by some of the private cell banking firms," Mr. Deutsch said. The high prices expectant parents are being charged has been a major criticism against autologous (self) cell banking by some in the medical community. "Now we will utilize the links provided by the Internet agreements, as well as various banner advertising and search engine programs, to make expectant parents and their medical caregivers aware that CRYO-CELL offers its services for only $275 for the first year and $50 each year thereafter," Mr. Deutsch continued. "In addition, we will be adding medical caregiver and expectant parent resource centers to our site that will help to further educate them on cord blood storage. We will also utilize our site to promote our state-of-the-art processing and preservation facility, which many clients have stated is an important benefit to choosing the CRYO-CELL program to store their newborn's umbilical cord blood." Already available for viewing on the Web site is the CRYO-CELL segment of the Lamaze You and Your Baby tutorial videotape. CRYO-CELL is the exclusive category sponsor of this Lamaze videotape which is used by more than 12,000 childbirth educators, and reportedly reaches nearly 90% of the country's "first time mothers," bringing them important information prior to the birth of their baby. After being made aware of the company's mission of affordability, more than 1,100 additional OB/GYN's have acknowledged their support, by requesting CRYO-CELL material be sent to their offices for distribution to their patients. They join the ranks of thousands of medical caregivers who have supported their patient's decision to store their newborn's U-Cord stem cells with CRYO-CELL. According to Gerald F. Maass, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CRYO-CELL, "This growing support by the medical community, coupled with increasing awareness by expectant parents, has enabled the company to achieve a 40% increase in quarterly revenues during our current fiscal year. The percentage of expectant parents who have enrolled in our program after accessing our Web site, has grown to 49% for the past two months. Web site sales have accounted for 18% of the company's revenues during this same period and are expected to increase dramatically." Mr. Richard stated, "We believe that a vigorous Internet program, along with our other marketing initiatives, could enable the company to reach a position of positive cash flow during this current fiscal year." Mr. Deutsch has been charged with continually upgrading the Web site, developing links and preparing for full E-Commerce capabilities as rapidly as possible. CRYO-CELL is a publicly traded company.
