I support 1650 Dell Computers bought over the past three years. Some of the earlier ones required BIOS upgrades (easily downloaded and applied from Dell Support site)but all have passed rigorous Y2K testing. Older installs of Win95 required upgrading and Y2K fixes available from Microsoft. We still have issues with other software, particularly 16bit software and legacy applications that were built in a DOS or Win 3.1 world. However, I wouldn't hesitate to certify any Dell hardware you buy today to be fully Y2K compliant. DELL quality and support has made my job easier and I give them unqualified approval. Could have got in at 8.00 in 1987 and even touted it then; but, I finally got to be a DELL long recently at $34 and believe it was still a great opportunity.
