Dale,
I contend certian individuals are able to offer information more freely because of the "alias", such as employees, suppliers and individuals working in the industry.
an additional problem with full disclosure of idenity is you don't have disclosue of who the audience is which make these discussion boards a bit different that a discussion amongst individuals. In the latter case when you say something you do know who is recieving it.
Reality however is that idenity isn't important here, meaning who you are. I value content. In a way everyone on SI is equal, who you are and what you are is determined by what you write, not your job, age, profession and so on.
As a example one could read the street, cbs marketwatch etc....and obtain a number of ideas (stocks) to investigate. However many of us augment our other tools by using these threads for ideas (picks, TA and current discussion on individual stocks). The more mainstream (eg absent anonmity) these boards become the more sanitized they will become. That in turn will "dampen" the flow of information (good and bad)>
I'd rather have the "uncensored" information, meaning I'll have to sort through the color commentary and so forth.
Best Regards,
Mad2
