Good news on Baanmarks, Sun Starfire servers set new records.

THis is what got me into Sun (in 94); Java and Jini (and maybe an eventual desktop!) are gravy.

The host mode benchmark was run on a single 36-CPU Starfire server with Oracle8i v8.0.5 software and achieved a score of 5,797 BRUs, breaking the world record of 3,641 BRUs, set by Sun in 1998. For the client/server version of the Baan benchmark test, Sun used a 64-CPU Starfire server with Oracle8i V8.1.5.2 software and one Starfire server for the application, which ran at 98 percent utilization for the 64 CPUs. These test results also set a new world record, with a result of 10,721 BRUs. Both benchmarks were performed on systems configured with Veritas Volume Manager and PurePerformix 3.2..3 software running on Sun's Solaris(TM) 7 Operating Environment.

Hello, Redwood, Isn't that great news about Starfire's performance!! I was so proud that I owned Sun stock!

I don't know what the market will do. Like you though, I think if it rallies hard at earnings, it may sell off in the fall. Traders seem to be cautious though. The Internet stocks remain flat. Traders and investors await further earning's reports.

Last night, I heard on the news that interest trades had dropped a bit. Good news for home buyers. And a drop in interest rates is always good news for the stock market.
