Skeet, the government might be doing everything in its power to stop the market from crashing because the hedgers and derivative pirates might be holding the economy hostage. LTCM has taught us that the Fed will bend over for Wall Street. The world governments are falling over themselves to devalue relative to the dollar and selling gold to prevent it from replacing paper money in general. The final result may be bond default everywhere with the government "borrowing" to pay it off, leaving the stock market inflated with inflated money, the bond market in shambles, and the bears up the creek.
