Greetings Sam , << Basically we have spiritual life and physical life>>, according to Sam Ferguson. This fataly flawed concept comes from the darkened minds of fallen men who have not been re-generated by the Holy Spirit by the " new birth ". Such an opinion comes from the natural mans mind and not from God. Without the revelation by the Spirit to redeemed man, no concept or opinion is dependable. The Word of God does not divide man into two parts, soul and body, rather it clearly states that man is tripartite, SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY. 1 Thess. 5:23 reads, " May the God of peace himself santify you wholly; and may your spirit, soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ". This verse plainly shows that man has three parts, each different to each other. To fail to see the difference between the spirit and soul of man is your problem Sam, God has distinguished between the spirit and soul. To fail to understand the difference between spirit and soul is fatal to spiritual maturity. May I suggest a great book for you to read by Watchman Nee called the Spiritual man. God has given this brother in Christ much revelation about man's spirit , soul and body. I would consider it a pleasure to obtain it and send it to you Sam as a gift if you would permit me.
