Crew can have its problems, too, Blue.

My husband persuaded my oldest son, a real athlete, to go in for crew, because he wanted to "wean" my son away from the contact sports he truly loved (like football).

Well, crew destroyed his knees. Turns out he had a congenital condition (osteochandritis), and crew -- all that sliding back and forth -- really did him in. He did not spend any time in a wheelchair, true, but he did spend time on crutches, after his operation.

End of sports career.

Edit: Sports are fun. But they really are not "good" for you.
