LONDON, July 12 (Reuters) - Shares in vehicle navigation systems group Trafficmaster Plc rose to record highs on Monday in the wake of briefings by company executives to investment institutions last week, dealers said.

"At least two new funds are building up holdings," a market source said. "Trafficmaster spent a day presenting last week...(The institutions) met the company, heard the story and decided despite the rise it was still worth buying."

The stock -- which has more than quadrupled in value so far this year -- was up 36 pence or seven percent at 560 pence at 1225 GMT, having hit a peak of 580p.
