You're right Hyseq did lose steam, and
things were looking quite nice on that...rats.
I guess we are just seeing a little money
rotate into the sector, and these stocks
cant help but light up, but most of these
seem not to be news driven etc, so there is
little follow through. Still, good to see.

Noticed TGEN did the same thing today, a pulse,
but no news or anything.

That indication thread was a good idea, thanks
for starting it!

Here is more HGS:

dailynews.yahoo.com

Note the part on "independent expert opinion":

<<One of the country's leading immune system experts, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, hailed the discovery as an example of deciphering human genes to find keys to how the body responds to disease.

''I look on this as being important because it demonstrates how incredibly powerful some of these biotech companies are becoming in doing things that would have seemed impossible a few years ago,'' Fauci said today in the The (Baltimore) Sun>>

Is it me or does he sound more impressed with the WAY in which this discovery was made than with the discovery itself? -- A point you made earlier today.

Even more HGS (the full article from the Baltimore Sun) with more extensive comments by Fauci:

sunspot.net

<<Fauci at NIAID said the Human Genome team's discovery is impressive because it pinpointed a protein that triggers production only of B cells.

"This is a highly specific growth factor for B cells. There are lots of growth factors," he said.

"The problem we've been faced with is that many are nonspecific, meaning they may induce the growth of other cells that aren't wanted," Fauci said.

"It's really extraordinary what they've done.">>

Another important point: the name of the new protein, BLyS, is pronounced "bliss" -g-
