Oh, I think I'd probably recommend Backup Exec. I don't
have experience with it myself, but you and a number of
others recommend it highly enough for me to be going
along with.

Personally
I intend to script my backups, probably with VBScript and
Windows Scripting Host, possibly with Perl, conceivably
with JavaScript. VBScript would be most efficient for
me since I write VB every day, but I like the idea of
Perl too (being and old AWK, SED, Borne and c shell feller).
I've just started to work with it -- kinda like coming
home after being away for 15 years.

Anyhow, the idea is
to keep backups completely under my own control; feasible
because my needs are pretty modest; desirable cause I'm quirky
(or hadn't you noticed? <gg>).

But that's strictly me. And if I don't script it,
I'll probably ante up the 85 bucks and run it all
from the network like you. In truth the CD Direct
is so painless that manually is almost good enough.
Almost doesn't cut it, though, although I've never
lost any serious amount of data for lack of a backup.

Yeah, I knew PM wouldn't run on NT Server; says so
right on the box. Hell, it won't run right for me
anywhere, so whatsa big deal? <gg> Must get back
to that one of these days ...
