The information data base for the ML VECO downgrade was so old as to be covered with mold, IMHO. Weakness in DD makers ... Hmmm ... No s..t?

Yes, I believe that that interpretation is correct, so much so that FASB has given serious consideration to changing the rules with regard to this. The only thing that I can think of with regard to not buying back stock at $31 that was sold for $50+ is that the gain would be classified as "trading earnings" and therefore of less value than those derived from their primary business. Anyway, just idle speculation and an attempt at humor.
