Barron's cover story this week is an excellent article describing the way the CEO, Jeffery T. Grade, destroyed Harnischfeger while aggrandizing himself. Reminds me somewhat of what Alberthal, Rudin, and the rest of the crew did to EDS while they built a jet fleet, marble halls in Plano, and took huge compensation packages. From Barrons: <Grade and his management team also hurt company morale by continuing to take handsome remuneration packages during the past year, even as they were cutting the company's headcount by some 3,400 jobs, or more than 20%. Employees are still railing at Grade in stunningly personal terms on the Yahoo! message board, nearly two months after his departure.> Dan
