PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Jul 8, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --
--Cleveland Clinic Chooses VidPhone(R) System to Improve
Day-To-Day Communications and Allow Physicians to Maximize Their Most Important Asset: Time--
Objective Communications(R), Inc. (Nasdaq SmallCap Market:OCOM & OCOMU), a leading provider of real-time video communications solutions, announced today that the Cleveland Clinic has purchased, three VidPhone systems, a total of 90 seats, that will be deployed throughout the Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic is one of the nation's top ten hospitals, as ranked byU.S. News and World Report. The Clinic will use the VidPhone systems to improve communications and share knowledge among nurses, physicians and other medical specialists. According to Dan McGuirk, technical development coordinator, Cole Eye Institute for the Clinic, the VidPhone system was the only system evaluated that could meet stringent image quality requirements for campus communications.
"Picture quality is our number one priority," said McGuirk. "When you're making decisions that impact people's lives, you can't tolerate anything less than perfect images."
The Cleveland Clinic, a leader in deploying technology, is installing desktop VidPhone stations in 90 exam rooms, operating rooms, nurses' stations and doctors' offices to make people and information more accessible. Physicians are able to visually collaborate, diagnose patients and view important medical andsurgical procedures--all without leaving their desks. Because they can communicate and work more efficiently, the Clinic is able to maximize productivity.
"We at Objective have long appreciated the medical community's unwavering requirement for real time video of superior quality," said David Martin, the Company's Vice President, Sales. "Whether in support of broadcast of medical procedures as they take place, use of video for training of medical professionals or interactive consultations between doctors and their support staffs, television-quality video is imperative. We are especially delighted that the Cleveland Clinic, one of America's premier medical facilities, has chosen VidPhone systems to meet their video network requirements. We look forward to working closely with the Cleveland Clinic and other medical professionals in enhancing the ways VidPhone systems support health care providers throughout the United States."
"Time management is a huge challenge for the medical industry," said McGuirk. "There are only so many hours in the day to see patients, perform medical procedures and stay up-to-date on the latest medical practices. This system will allow us to manage our time more efficiently."
There are many benefits to using the VidPhone system, in addition to the superb video quality. Ease of installation and deployment allows the user to be up and running--fast--with "real-life," face-to-face communications anywhere there is a phone jack. The flexibility of the VidPhone System also makes it possible for the Cole Eye Institute at the Cleveland Clinic to dramatically broaden the reach of its existing video systems.
