Taxman,
CFO said it was too early to comment on Q4 at that time
as "Books were yet to be closed". But said he was Very
comfortable based on tone of business and that he didn't
want to talk about Q4 as the conf. call was meant to be
exclusively about accounting changes and SEC's reserve a/c
inquiry.

There is nothing Greg said on June 30th that would prevent
from MSFT announcing even 50c if it had such a quarter.
I don't expect they made 2.75Billion in profits. But I
think they had about 2.4 Billion pn 5.8Billion in revenues.

It will be interesting to see.

baseline consensus is .36. chief financial officer said he was comfortable with the street consensus (or words to that effect) very late in the quarter. why would he say that if he knew the number was so much higher?

Actually he said very comfortable.
