Based on the tone of this thread I think it is time to add to my position.

There are two problems with ATI stock price. One is Canadian investors and Two is ATI's Investor Relations.

Canadian Investor are likely the biggest problem. They are not willing to have an "American Evaluation". This was very clear on July 1, the day the Canadian Markets were closed.

__________June 30 (TSE)_______July 1(Q in Can$)________July 2 (TSE)
Open...................23.70 ......................... 23.80 .......................... 24.90
High................... 24.10 ......................... 26.38 .......................... 24.95
Low................... 23.60 ......................... 23.80 .......................... 24.30
Close................. 23.85 ......................... 26.29 .......................... 24.65

Volume (k).......... 1.222 ......................... 537 ............................ 1.322

ATY gaped down $1.43 on July 2 and I doubt many investors even knew, they probably thought it gapped up $1.05. The worst part of this was it opened July 2 on the Nasdaq at 17.25 or 25.35 Can and not 24.90, which leads me to the other problem.

ATY trades very little in percentage basis on the NASDAQ and most of these shares are likely traded by Canadian Dealers making a quick buck based of the price differences between the exchanges (like the open above). ATY has to get more American investor interested in ATYT. They need to go on a road show. ATY's Investor Relations need a kick if you want this stock to start realizing an "American Evaluation".

Just my 2 cents.

If you look closely at recent history the stock drops for about 10 days or so the last two quarters and then slowly creeps back up.

If I'm right, we should see bottom soon, it might start to move slowly up again in the week of July 19th-23rd. Then it'll run up again to just before Oct8th. If Q4 only beats estimates by a few cents, it'll drop again.

At this rate, I'm beginning to suspect, as long as EPS is in the us 17c-18c range, ATY is not going to go above C$25. For whatever reason, this stock needs a us24c quarter for it to make significant gains. A possible theory is that Q199 was too strong --- at C37c (us24c), it set unrealistic expectations for the rest of the year, some investors were totally ignoring the analyst estimates and coming up with outlandish 'whisper numbers'.

The street seems to be more forgiving with NVDA and SIII. Maybe because it is a canadian company. Who knows?

Again, congratulations on making some money off SIII. I'm about to sell my tiny 2K holdings in SIII before July15th.

With this run up, it seems the street expects SIII to turn in a profit, and I doubt that will happen unless they got some cash for selling part of their UMC holdings.

What do you think? Will SIII rise or fall after earnings? Will earnings will go up or down YoY? How many day traders did SIII pick up in the last 3 days?

I'm also very surprised that the street has forgiven the creative accounting tricks S3 executives pulled the last time. I guess the Under New Management sign is working. How did the class action suit turn out? Anyone know?

It looks to me like the Street is voting in Favor of S3.

I'm glad at least someone is happy today. Being correct at this point does make you feel like a big man doesn't it? Enjoy it. Eh?

We Canadians have very long memories of these things. Next time you americans need soft-wood lumber to build your houses, we (ahemm) may not have any left. So there. :-) :-)
